Laughter. Good food. Stimulating conversation. Last night I had dinner with my Book Club.
It seems as though we spend more time sharing about our lives (and laughing!), than we do in discussing the book. And it is wonderful.
Every time I’m with these wonderful friends, I am reminded of this…
We are different. And I love it!
Conversing about our passions
When we get together, we each show up fully present, excited to hear about what’s going on in our minds and our hearts. We share about what’s important to us. What’s hurting us. What’s making us afraid. And in all those conversations, what matters to us—our passions—are woven into the conversation. That makes our conversations rich and more interesting…and it makes me a better person.
I love…
- Listening to Annette talk about her Art Camp and how working on her creations brings life to her soul…
- Observing Jessica interact with her adorable little girls, knowing she is passionate about raising them to be all God created them to be…
- Watching Barb jump out of her chair when she gets excited about a new, creative idea…
- And seeing how Kelli affirms and connects our hearts…laughing so easily and freely…laughing and loving.
I love these women, and I love hearing about what excites them.
Share the spirit and come as you are
What is best about our Book Club (aka “Time to laugh” club)? We get to know each other. We come as we are. We share our passions.
Today I am very grateful for the passionate women in my life who share their hearts with me. They bring energy to my spirit.

Gaye, I belong to a book club too…and my experience is very much the same as yours, particularly the “come as you are” aspect. I cherish my book club, as you do! JoAnn
Hi, JoAnn — There’s just something about being with and laughing with women — so good for the soul!
Words I live by!
Gaye — One of the hardest things about moving to a new city was giving up my book club. I miss the women and its sense of community. Different women, different lives who came together for two hours a month – to find out we weren’t that different.
I think I would like to be in Gaye’s book club!!
I am sure she brings life and laughter, to each and every meeting!
Yes, Gaye does bring laughter and sunshine to any room she enters. Her gifts bring insight and inventive thought to our little group and she is much loved for her uniqueness and sameness. (I hope those are real words, if not, they should be.) What an encourager she is!
