This week I simply share. I thought I would give pure blogging a whirl. I was asked to think about a blog that discussed my perception on ‘work-life balance’. I have said for years that I don’t believe in a work-life balance; I simply believe in balance.
Coincidently, in an invaluable conversation I had this week, someone asked me if I felt balanced. As I stammered through my response of feeling happy and having a meaningful purpose and overall good sense for my life, he interrupted me and said, “I’ll take that as NO”. As I left our conversation, I thought about his view regarding the state of my life. I love my job, I love my family, and I love building and creating energy and hope. After having my thyroid and hormones checked for an imbalance that must be contributing to my fatigue; I agreed, maybe I was ‘out of balance’.
If I am out of balance…NOW WHAT? How do you bring balance into your world?
As I write this, I don’t have a clear answer. I want it to be black and white, something I can implement with logical steps working toward success. However, where I believe I will find the answer is in quiet whispers of peace. I believe it will be found in the gentle moments of relaxation. I hear my Mom’s advice, “You can do everything you want in life; you just can’t do it all at the same time”. Since her death, I talk to her daily, “Mom is this my key”? “Is this the oh-so-simple answer for all of us”?
I am on a personal quest to enhance my life balance. I choose to give to each day my best energy, engaging in what brings me my greatest joy and deepest sense of accomplishment. Join with me this week in carving out time to just be. Plan as I will, to take 10 -15 minutes each day to stop, relax, and center myself. There is no magical or consistent answer for all of us as to how to create our life balance. This is our independent work. However remember as Mom said, “We can do everything we want; we just can’t do it all at that same time”.
I intend to continue to DREAM HUGE, I just won’t implement every step today.
