Affirmations? Smaffirmations (They do work!)

I spent the early years of my adulthood working hard to overcome the negative thoughts that had been created in my mind. My challenge with self-acceptance and a poor body image took time to replace. I learned of a technique that I believe changed my life. The idea of speaking love to myself, rather than criticism, altered the energy I felt. During a time when I was physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially bankrupt; I infused the concept of practicing daily affirmations. What I observed over the course of a 6-month period has stayed with me since that time.. I claimed what I wanted to see, what I wanted to feel, and what I wanted to be. I claimed a positive, strong, healthy future for my boys and myself. The universe heard what I had to say; the universe blessed me with strength, wisdom, tenacity, and a brighter tomorrow.

People say ‘affirmations – smaffirmations’, I say, ‘they work’!

How do you replace the negative thoughts in your mind? How do you lift up your beliefs when life can drag you down?

Create affirmations.Plan a 30-minute break with yourself this week. Plan to create 10 healthy affirmations. These will be positive “I AM” statements. These will be future focused and action based declarations. You will want them short, simple and to a positive point. Do this soon; your mind, body, and spirit are counting on you.

Practice affirmations. Carve out time daily to repeat these positive messages. As with any change, repetition will help solidify your desired result. Post these in your bathroom, on your desk, or on your refrigerator – wherever you will see them. Recite them quietly, recite them aloud; practice, practice, practice. Allow these healthy statements to naturally replace the thoughts of old. Read them, repeat them, say them, be them; practice, practice, practice.

Believe in affirmations.
Have faith in the mystery of healing. Develop your belief in a future yet to be known. Grow in the acceptance of their message. Believe in the power that positive statements hold.

When will you schedule to practice your affirmations today?

My affirmations from long ago: I am strong and powerful. I am healthy and of good spirit. I am creative and open to change. I am loving and compassionate. I am fearless and of enthusiastic focus. I give to others with a joyful heart.  I find time daily to exercise my mind, body, and spirit. I am centered and happy. I find value in every living thing. I am a child of God working daily to live out my life purpose. I am all I need to be.
