Replenish. Just the word makes me relax a bit, you? When I think of ways to replenish both physically and emotionally several ideas come to mind. These certainly aren’t new, but I think we can always use another reminder.
Find your magic number
Get more sleep. We hear it all of the time, right? I truly believe that getting enough sleep is imperative, and I think it is key to find your magic number. We all have different magic numbers, and unfortunately I know that mine is 9 hours.
How do I know? While on vacation many years ago, I allowed my body to sleep as much as it needed. I discovered without an alarm clock that 9 hours is my magic number. I wish it was less because I feel that I could accomplish more stuff on any given day, but alas that is what I need to feel good.
What is even crazier is my husband’s magic number is 7 hours. So how do we make that work? We just accept our difference. I go to bed before he does and sleep in later than he does. And truthfully, 9 hours doesn’t happen every day and I am ok with that. But when I stick to it, I notice how much better I feel in all areas of my life.
Spend time by yourself
I like spending time by myself…do you? Sometimes I like to go for a walk or a drive. Sometimes I eat out or go to a movie. I really enjoy the rare occasion that I just get to be at home with no one else. I think it is good to be quiet, reflective, and alone with your thoughts. Frequently I discover a new idea of or different way of thinking after spending some time with myself.
Get away with your girlfriends
I have a few very close friends whom I adore. We plan an annual girl’s weekend every year at a cabin to just get away and be silly. This year we upped the ante and took a trip to Napa, CA. We had such a great time and laughed so much that my sides hurt for days afterward. It was one of the best vacations of my life and has left me feeling more replenished and renewed than I have felt in a long time.
What would you add to this list to replenish your physical and emotional wellbeing?

Liza, I love the annual get-away with girlfriends! “Nourishment” comes in so many forms–laughing with the girls feeds my soul and my spirit in a very special way.
I agree with all three of these. Although it seems it would be the opposite, I feel replenished after a run. I get to be alone with my thoughts during that time and whatever brain fog I have tends to disappear when I’m done.
